While the League of Shadows was key in Bruce ’s education and transformation into Batman , and their ideas about balance are unsafe and scary enough to make them believable villains in Nolan’sBatmanuniverse , The Dark Knightis good without its presence . The Joker is not a character who works with others – surely , he uses others in his plans , but he ’s not the character to make confederation ( he much rather fake others into doing what he want / pauperization , as he did with Dent ) . The Joker is all about chaos , and linking him to the League of Shadows would have given him a sense of order and organization that does n’t correspond the character , even ifthe Joker really is a guy with a plan , unlike what he claimed . Even if he was n’t allied with the League of Shadows , the organization ’s mien would n’t have worked in a story where the Joker only want to seed chaos and great deal with Batman .
On the other hand , Harvey Dent ’s goal was to pass Gotham ’s unionized offense and do it the right way , with the help of Gordon and the Gotham City Police Department . Dent was so committed to this that he publically claimed to be Batman in parliamentary procedure to lure out the Joker , but after Rachel Dawes ’ death and having half his face burned , the Joker convince him to take DoJ into his own hands , and so Dent begin killing the corrupt police officer and the mafia whocontributed to Rachel ’s decease . Dent ’s actions and mentality could have been useful to the League of Shadows , but Dent ’s mission was personal , and he did n’t take the help or the influence of an entire organization . The Dark Knight ’s villains brook on their own and have clear motives , and all of this work without the League of Shadows .

Was The League Of Shadows' Return Always Planned?
Although The League of Shadows ’ homecoming inThe Dark Knight Risesworked well and made way for a Ra ’s al Ghul cameo , it does n’t seem to have been planned sinceBatman Begins . The Joker in the first place had a part inThe Dark Knight rise up , but Heath Ledger ’s demise led to major changes in the program for Nolan ’s thirdBatmanmovie . Nolan decided not to remold the Joker and was initially hesitating to make a third movie , and give the success of the Joker , Warner bid forthe Riddler to be the unexampled villain .
