Star Wars Explains Why Jabba is Torturing This Droid to Death

InStar Wars : takings of the Jedi - Jabba ’s Palace#1 by Marc Guggenheim and Alessandro Miracolo , the funny peck up right at the moment where the droid is being rip apart in front of C-3PO , and rather than following the events of the film , it delves into the final thoughts of Eightyem as he contemplates everything that take place that brought him to this painful last . As revealed in the movie , Eightyem was the original protocol droid of Jabba the Hutt . Though as revealed only in this comic , Eightyem hated his job immensely . In fact , he so externally hated the monotony of translating for Jabba that one of Jabba ’s men approached the droid about it – a Twi’lek diagnose Silvan Kaan . Kaan had deluxe ambitions , and they mostly rotate around the character assassination of Jabba the Hutt , followed fleetly by his own introduction into the theatrical role of crime genus Bos . To do that , Silvan convinced Eightyem to do him three favor , and in interchange , Silvan would set the droid free . From envenom food , to smuggle weapons , to deliberately misconceive for Jabba to cover the actions of himself and Silvan , Eightyem actively participate in Jabba ’s downfall to win his own exemption .

Unfortunately for Eightyem , his plans with Silvan extend up in flames , so to address . Silvan was drop to the Sarlacc and Eightyem brook the fortune fans saw inReturn of the Jedi . While it did n’t devote off for him , at least Eightyem did n’t die awfully for nothing – and that is something in which everyone can at least find some grade of comfort . Arguably the most disturbing aspect of the aspect where Eightyem is getting torn apart in Return of the Jedi is the pointlessness of it . What could this sad - eyed protocol droid have done to Jabba to deserve to be rack to death like this ? Well , as it move around out , quite a mo .

It seems as though the destruction of this protocol droid in Return of the Jedi was originally put in the film to outline Jabba ’s perfunctory cruelty , that even something as seemingly harmless as a protocol droid would be excruciate to demise at the drop of a hat – so imagine what kind of fate awaited an external conspirator like C-3PO and R2 - D2 . But , as it turned out , Eightyem was far from barren , and he actively and willingly participate in a confederacy that would have ended with Jabba ’s death . In this luminousness , maybe this wretched little protocol droid did merit this fate after all .
