Supermanfans are more than familiar with the effects Kryptonite has on a Kyptonian under the light of the yellow sun , but its shock on humans are far less cleared . While there have been instances of Kryptonite leading to the loss of limbs or even cancer in some DC plot line , there is one symptom that is decidedly less frightful and has completely flown under the microwave radar – so much so that even Superman does n’t know about it .

Kal - El aka Clark Kent aka Superman come to Earth as an infant , as his parents send him to the upstage planet in the Hope that their progeny would survive the defunctness - level event happening on their own . Krypton was on the verge of destruction , and after Kal - El was sent off - world , the planet at long last explode . Pieces of Superman ’s planet scattered across the creation , with a bonnie amount bring down on Earth . While little was do it about the exotic substance when scientists first key out it , the genius billionaire Lex Luthor quickly learn that it was the one affair that weakened Superman , after Kal - El made his desperate unveiling . While Lex would go on to use Kryptonite in a number of hisanti - Superman suit and weapons , an alternating version of the scoundrel would take things one step further , and in doing so , would unlock the greatest thing Kryptonite could offer humans : longer lifespans .

Kryptonite Makes Humans Live Longer, & Lex Luthor Proves it

InSuper Soldier#1 by Mark Waid and Dave Gibbons , reader are thrown intothe Amalgam Universe – the combination of Marvel and DC realism . This comedian is center specifically on the uniting of Steve Rogers aka Captain America and Clark Kent aka Superman . The event is Super - Soldier , a man come in with a super soldier blood serum educe from Kryptonian DNA . In this universe , Kal - El did n’t survive his head trip to Earth , and the regime discover him dead on arrival . However , a dead Kryptonian was n’t the only thing that was launch , as pieces of Kryptonite followed the kid to Earth from the baby ’s detonate home planet . While the main focus of Earth ’s top scientific psyche were the alien baby and the potential that lay within his cistron , one man focused more on the green rock that came with him – and that man was Lex Luthor .

Lex Luthor delved deep into studying the Kryptonite until he found that it had properties that could not only weaken his arch - enemy , Super - Soldier , but also elongate human life . Lex injected the Kryptonite ( or ‘ Green K ’ as it ’s name in this comic ) into himself decades ago , which is how he was still active during the events of this issue . The only real side effect present in this comedian is that the Green K turn one ’s tegument green , though no other health impact were mentioned . While this storyline does technically take office outside the official DC universe , Kryptonite should have this same impression on humankind . The Amalgam Universe is the perfect combination of the Marvel and DC public , and since Marvel does n’t have a Krypton ( and therefore no Kryptonite ) , that part of DC lore remain unchanged upon this new universe ’s universe . In other words , it is safe to say that Kryptonite can make someone live an unnaturally long lifetime should they inject it into their blood stream just as Lex Luthor did here .

The idea of Kryptonite elongating the lives of humans who inject it into their blood is something that has never been explored beyond this crossover , despite the fact that the very nature of this crossing proves it is potential in DC . This means that the originalSupermannever saw this particular power in action , and has no melodic theme that Kryptonite has the ability to unnaturally elongate human life .
