Iron Man battle a change of enemy during his time in the MCU , and some of them turned out to have been unintentionally created by him or were jolly linked to him and his backstory , which added even more layers of complexness to his lineament .

Ivan Vanko was a Russian physicist and the son of Anton Vanko , a scientist who worked with Howard Stark after leaving the Soviet Union and arriving in the U.S. Vanko and Howard developed the first Arc Reactor , but they end up dissent on what they want the Arc Reactor for – Vanko wanted to make a profit off this technology , while Howard want to use it for the benefit of humans . A couple of years later , Vanko was charge of espionage and was conduct back to the Soviet Union , with Howard taking citation forthe Arc Reactor . Vanko could n’t develop the engineering by himself and was expatriate to Siberia as penalty , spending the sleep of his liveliness in alcohol-dependent rage and taking it all out on his son , though he also taught him about scientific discipline so he could get retaliation on the Starks .
Before he was kidnapped by the Ten Rings and his transformation into Iron Man began , Tony Stark was more similar to Anton Vanko than to his own father . Tony did n’t care about who Stark Industries sell weapons to as long as he made money out of it , and it was n’t until he was in a biography - or - death office with bombs and artillery ( most of them from Stark Industries ) that he realize all the mistakes he had made so far . Tony , then , had a brain similar to that of Anton Vanko , as he only wanted to make a profit off his company ’s engineering rather than utilize it for the mankind ’s welfare , but fortunately , he learned the lesson and give the rest period of his living to being a creditworthy zep .
Could Whiplash Return To The MCU?
Like most of the villainsin the first part of the MCU ’s Infinity Saga , Ivan Vanko / Whiplash did n’t hold up his first movie . With the help of Rhodey ( Don Cheadle ) and his War Machine suit , Iron Man battled Whiplash , and when it seemed like Whiplash was about to win , Iron Manand War Machine triggered a massive blowup with their beams of energy . Ivan died seconds after detonating an volatile gimmick in his armour , and he terminate up becoming one of the MCU ’s most forgettable villain . Now , the MCU ’s multiverse offer a chance to somewhat much any at rest MCU character to return , but out of all those who could make a surprisal appearance in what ’s go out ofthe Multiverse Saga , Whiplash is n’t one . While it would be interesting to explore a different interpretation of Ivan Vanko / Whiplash , the MCU has great event and more interesting character to follow , so a Whiplash variant will only live in the imagination of the audience .
