In a trailer forStar warfare : Mace Windu#2 by Marc Bernardin and Georges Jeanty , Mace Windu is on a mission to extract a plagiarist who has her hands on the formula for a new type of coaxium . This formula would allow starship engines to race at 120 % capacity , mean if felonious syndicates learned how to refine this newfangled fuel , they ’d be able to outrun any and all Republic ships . During the extraction , Mace Windu and the buccaneer , Azita Cruz , run into more than just outlaw , however , as they ’re quickly facing off against Bore Worms .
Windu and Cruz retreated into an ice cave to escape some pursuing villains , and they turn tail right into two Bore Worms . At least , that ’s what Mace Windu discovers is correct in front of him , as he did n’t recognize this creature , and had no idea what it was before Cruz blurt out its name in repugnance . That have in mind Windu did n’t have sex the Bore Worms were immune to lightsaber attack , though he quickly realize that when his strikes had no effect .
Mace Windu ’s end is one of the most tragical & significant in Star Wars , and with 4 words , that moment was redefine forever ( & in more ways than 1 ) .
Bore Worms Aren’t the Only Star Wars Creatures Immune to Lightsabers (Not Krayt Dragons)
While they are the belated , Bore Worms are not the only creature in theStar Warsgalaxy with hides that can repel lightsaber attacks , as there ’s another prominent life sentence word form with a similarly strong outer carapace : Zillo Beasts . A Zillo Beast is a kaiju - similar colossus that first appeared inStar Wars : The Clone Wars , and later made a rejoinder to canon inThe Bad Batch , and then again inStar Wars : Age of Resistance - Kylo Ren#1 .
Like the Bore Worm , Zillo Beasts have organic armor that is impervious to lightsaber flak . However , as discovered by Anakin Skywalker , the Zillo Beasts ’ armor is plated , and its large sizing makes the openings between those plates more vulnerable to attempt , specially from enemies as relatively small as human - sized Jedi . The Bore Worm , however , only looks about 6 meter long , as opposed to the Zillo Beasts ’ gargantuan 100 meters , with no spacing between its lightsaber - resistant casing , making this newfangled animal actually more dangerous in terms of its lightsaber immunity .
The Introduction of Bore Worms Could Change Star Wars Canon Forever
Palpatine is obsessed with developing Zillo Beast armor. Perhaps he should shift to Bore Worms.
As shown in bothStar war : The Clone WarsandThe Bad Batch , Palpatine is obsessed with developing Zillo Beast hide into armor that can be used to guard against lightsaber plan of attack . Palpatine even went so far as to clone Zillo Beasts(as shown inThe Bad Batch ) to make that ambition a reality . However , now that Mace Windu has had a rivulet - in with Bore Worms ( during a deputation that ’s put before the Clone Wars ) , then perhaps Palpatine would want to investigate that creature as a origin for his lightsaber resistant armour - and perhaps he will .
Palpatine could very well know about the Bore Worm and develop armor using its hide without anyone even knowing . Or , maybe Mace Windu did n’t pass along the info he read while on this mission about the Bore Worm ( he did n’t know about it himself beforehand , after all ) . But , no matter of whether Palpatine finds out about it or not , the biggest takeout is thatMace Winduencountered a ‘ sand insect - like ’ monster inStar Warscanon that ’s immune to lightsaber attacks , which absolutely puts Krayt Dragons - and Zillo Beasts - to shame .
