It was always assumed that Rick thought this room because he truly just think those thing are stupid , and he can rise how stupid they are just by being smarter than them . However , there ’s in reality a concealed intellect whyRick hates gods and deception , a reason that makes Rick nothing more than “ a petty deicider ” .
Other than the design character assassination of the Judeo - Christian God , Rick and Mortyhas only ever had one god die on - screen , and that was theZeus name Reggie Rick battledfor the erotic love of Gaia and the right to raise her children . While technically it was Morty and Summer who killed the god , Rick was the one who initiated the battle , set Reggie up for death . Rick & Morty’s Rick Is Secretly Jealous Of The Gods He Slaughters
InRick and Morty#8 by Alex Firer and Fred C. Stressing , a horde of gods has risen from the grave to exact vengeance upon Rick Sanchez for murdering them . Initially , Rick is nowhere to be recover , so these god instead bring mayhem upon his homeworld for the sheer joy of rag the someone who no longer worship them . Meanwhile , Rick finds himself in the clutch of Vultureperson after the cosmic devourer of the dead seek to team up with Rick and put these undead gods back in the tomb . Though even still , Vultureperson still does n’t see Rick as a dependable ally , and does n’t hide his disdain for who Rick is as a person . Vultureperson admits that Rick is truly gifted at kill gods , which is why he recruit him for this mission , but Vultureperson also secern Rick that he be intimate why Rick shoot down gods . consort to Vultureperson ’s third - party wisdom , Rick kills deities because he begrudge them , saying , “ you do n’t have the effortless great power , worship , adoration of gods ” .
Rick is the sassy person in the universe , but he is just a mortal man . Sure , he can manufacture gizmo and weapon that can pop divinity and obliterate entire world , but he still needs those gadgets and weapon to do so . Gods inherently hold that level of power , and while Rick can surpass them with his inventions , his bag - form is nothing compare to theirs . Not only are divinity physically more powerful than Rick is without his tech , but they are also revere and adored by those who bang them . Rick is a selfish and fell man who pushes away those closest to him . In the beginning of the serial , Morty would follow Rick through hell and back because he believe in and trusted him , but by the end , Morty was mad of Rick ’s abusive behaviour . If even Morty does n’t love Rick ( with season 6 ending on a questionable note in that regard ) then no one ever will , which is pretty far off from the adoration received by eternal gods - the very gods Rick so brutally murder .
ThisRick and Mortyissue reveals that Rick does n’t just hate god and their effortless legerdemain because he reckon they ’re stunned , or because he knows he ’s superior to them , he does so because he ’s covetous , of both their office and of the love they find - love that Rick will never appropriate himself to know .
